Information You Provide to Us
Robert-Leslie Publishing collects information in a few sections of The InvestiGator Club Website. Becoming a member of The InvestiGator Club is voluntary. Nonmembers can still use most of our site. However, nonmembers will not be able to access certain content.
When you register as an InvestiGator Club member, you provide personal information. The personally identifiable information we may request from you, and with which we identify you as a member, includes the following: first name, last name, street address, email address, password, and school (if applicable).
Requesting a catalog is also voluntary, and is limited to educators (including home-schoolers). If you request a catalog, your access to the Website does not change. When you request a catalog, you provide personal information. The personally identifiable information we may request from you includes the following: first name, last name, role within your school, name and type of school or center, street address, email address, and phone number.
If you send an electronic postcard to “Share the Buzz” about The InvestiGator Club with someone you know, we will ask for your name and email address as well as the email address of the recipient(s). We will only use this information to send the postcard and we will delete the information once the postcard is sent.
We may also occasionally run contests, post questionnaires, or ask visitors for other information. Providing personal information in any of these activities is voluntary. We will make clear how your information will be used in each case.
Please note: Children under the age of 13 and non-US residents cannot become members of The Investigator Club, nor can they request a catalog.
How We Use the Information You Provide
Robert-Leslie Publishing uses your personal information in the following ways: to customize the Website so that you get the resources that fit you best, to improve the site, to contact you about updates to the site or about new products and promotions, and to better understand our visitors and customers.
We want to assure you that we never give your personal information to anyone outside of Robert-Leslie Publishing. No third-party vendors will see your information. A few exceptions may be required by law: (a) in response to subpoenas, court orders or legal process, to the extent permitted and as restricted by law; (b) when disclosure is required to maintain the security and integrity of this site, or to protect any user's security or the security of other persons, consistent with applicable laws; (c) in the event that Robert-Leslie Publishing goes through a business transition, such as a merger, divestiture, acquisition, liquidation or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your personal information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred; or (d) in limited circumstances, Robert-Leslie Publishing may disclose your email address in order to comply with laws and regulations, including the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act (CAN-SPAM of 2003).
The host server on which The InvestiGator Club runs automatically collects basic visitor data, such as domain name, browser types (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape), referring pages, pages visited, and time spent in areas of The InvestiGator Club. Robert-Leslie Publishing uses this non-personally identifiable information for the following purposes: (1) to provide statistical analysis of web page traffic patterns; (2) to administer our site and servers; and (3) to improve our services.
We Protect Children’s Privacy
Robert-Leslie Publishing encourages parents and guardians to spend time online with their children. That’s why we designed many areas of The InvestiGator Club for adults to use with kids. Parents: Please teach your children to never give out their real names, addresses, or phone numbers without your permission when using the Internet. We all share responsibility to protect children from misuse of their personal information.
We want you to be completely comfortable bringing your children to The InvestiGator Club. We promise that we will never collect personally indentifiable information about any child. In certain areas of the site we ask for a first name. This information is stored only during the visitor session. Once you leave the site, the name is discarded. It’s that simple.
"Cookies" are small text files written to your computer. We do not use them. Instead, our server keeps track of where you go on the Website during a visit. If you log in as a member, your login ID becomes part of the page address that is passed from one page to another as you move around the site. This allows the server to give you the pages that are appropriate to you, without having to store any data on your computer.
We Do Not Accept Advertising
We do not partner with or have special relationships with any advertisers or ad server companies. We do not give any user information to advertisers or ad server companies.
Robert-Leslie Publishing has security measures in place to make sure that all information we receive from our Website is secure against unauthorized access. Our server uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), an advanced encryption technology. This technology safeguards your personal information and privacy. However, you should understand that "perfect security" is never guaranteed.
